The acquisition of DAO New Energy by TCL Zhonghuan Renewable Energy Technology Co.,Ltd. (TCL Zhonghuan) was officially completed today, as marked by a handover ceremony held in Quzhou, Zhejiang province. This strategic move integrates the companies' capabilities across the silicon wafer, solar cell, and module segments, forging a new, unified industrial ecosystem.

In his address, TCL Zhonghuan CEO Ouyang Hongping noted the current challenges in the photovoltaic industry, including capacity mismatches and fragmented supply chains, making full industrial chain integration an inevitable trend. He emphasized that this merger is not merely an addition of capacity but a strategic initiative during an industry downturn, leveraging the complementary strengths of both parties to create a closed-loop from wafers to modules, thereby significantly amplifying their combined competitive advantage.

TCL Technology CEO Wang Cheng expressed TCL's long-term confidence in the solar sector. He anticipates the merged entity will capitalize on their combined strengths to achieve a synergistic effect greater than the sum of its parts, rapidly developing competitive end-products to break through in the market. He further stated that TCL will fully support the global expansion of the photovoltaic business by strengthening its worldwide marketing network, transforming technological leadership into market competitiveness, and fully realizing the value of integrated operations to build a globally competitive solar industry leader.

This acquisition is also a crucial step for TCL Zhonghuan's major push into the BC (Back Contact) technology segment. Post-merger, the BC-related patent portfolio, production line processes, and module manufacturing capabilities will form a complete, closed-loop system. The company is advancing large-scale BC production line construction, aiming to establish BC technology as the core focus of its module business. By seizing the current window for N-type technology upgrades, TCL Zhonghuan plans to achieve rapid volume production of BC products, building a long-term competitive moat. Marketization plans and global channel deployment for BC products are already in place to support worldwide, large-scale promotion of this new technology, with domestic and international BC module orders reportedly showing sustained growth.

During the ceremony, TCL Zhonghuan unveiled three new products: a high-efficiency TBC double-glass module, a TBC single-sided double-glass module, and a perovskite-silicon four-terminal tandem module. Concurrently, the first shipment of BC modules from TCL Solar, destined for MPower in Australia, was dispatched to Sydney.
