Hengqin Port, China's first checkpoint to implement smart "facial recognition" clearance in cooperative express channels, has reported significant operational achievements in its first month since the system's launch on November 5. According to the Hengqin Border Inspection Station under the Zhuhai Border Inspection Corps, approximately 120,000 passengers have registered for the service, with over 640,000 travelers benefiting from the tech-enabled, efficient clearance experience—garnering widespread praise from cross-border passengers.

"I completed my authorization on the first day the channel opened. Now it feels like 'seamless clearance'—just look at the camera, and the gate opens automatically. The whole process takes about 10 seconds, much more convenient than before," shared Tian, a university student from Macao.

Data from the Hengqin Border Inspection Station shows that over 16,000 passengers registered on the first day of operation. During the first month, daily usage peaked at 32,000 passengers, accounting for about 44.5% of total express channel traffic. The cooperative smart express channel has become a "convenient passage" for travelers between Hengqin and Macao.

The upgraded cooperative smart express channels, totaling 64 lanes, are now fully operational across Hengqin Port's inbound and outbound passenger inspection halls and vehicle inspection halls, catering to diverse travel scenarios. Eligible users include: mainland residents aged 14 or above holding valid travel permits to Hong Kong and Macao with multiple-entry endorsements (for stay, family visits, business, talent programs, or other purposes); Hong Kong and Macao residents (including non-Chinese nationals) with valid Mainland Travel Permits; and Taiwanese residents with valid five-year Taiwan Compatriot Permits—provided they consent to facial and fingerprint data collection for border inspection purposes.

Zeng Xiang, Deputy Director of the Hengqin Border Inspection Station, stated that the National Immigration Administration's smart upgrade of cooperative express channels at Hengqin represents the latest achievement in port integration between Hengqin and Macao, as well as a key measure to facilitate public and business services.
