Metis TechBio announced that its proprietary AiTEM artificial-intelligence formulation innovation platform will be locally installed at Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals. The cooperation aims to accelerate Hengrui’s drug-formulation workflow and represents the further external commercialisation of AiTEM, which is powered by Metis TechBio’s NanoForge AI-driven nano-delivery infrastructure.
NanoForge integrates an AI-for-nano lipid de novo generation algorithm, a foundational lipid language model and a high-throughput wet-and-dry experimental closed-loop system. As of May 2026, the platform had accumulated more than 10 million lipid structures and 100,000 experimental datapoints, supporting over 10 industry-first or best-in-class R&D programmes and enabling targeted delivery to eight key human organs and tissues.
AiTEM applies the NanoForge dataset to optimise small-molecule formulations by predicting drug–excipient interactions via quantum-chemistry and molecular-dynamics simulations. In the development of MTS-004—the first AI-enabled formulation new drug in China to complete Phase III trials—AiTEM reduced the preclinical formulation-optimisation cycle from the industry norm of one to two years to three months, completing the full discovery-to-Phase III process in 38 months.
