Hong Kong Market Midday Recap: Hang Seng Index Gains 1.34%, Lithium Stocks Rebound

The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong advanced by 1.34%, adding 334 points to reach 25,227 points by the midday close. The Hang Seng Tech Index rose by 0.79%. Trading volume for the morning session reached HK$129.5 billion.

Lithium stocks showed signs of recovery during the morning session. The strong first-half performance of leading lithium producers and institutional optimism for a seasonal price rebound in lithium supported the sector. Ganfeng Lithium Group Ltd (HKEX: 01772) shares surged 9%. Tianqi Lithium Corporation (HKEX: 09696) gained 7%, and Lopal Tech Co., Ltd (HKEX: 02465) increased by 5%.

Aluminum stocks collectively moved higher, driven by elevated geopolitical risk premiums in the Middle East and sustained high levels of domestic inventory drawdowns in China. Innovation Industrial Ltd (HKEX: 02788) jumped 7.6%. Aluminum Corporation of China Limited (HKEX: 02600) rose 7%, and China Hongqiao Group Limited (HKEX: 01378) was up 5%.

Gold stocks continued their recent rebound as the international gold price climbed to a two-week high. Analysts noted that the sector's valuation at current levels presents a significantly improved risk-reward profile. Lingbao Gold Group Co., Ltd (HKEX: 03330) advanced 5.7%, and Zijin Mining Group International Capital Co Ltd (HKEX: 02259) increased by 4%.

Power equipment stocks were active, with expectations for the overseas power shortage theme to persist, supported by record-high order volumes for GEV gas turbines. Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (HKEX: 01072) gained 5%, and Harbin Electric Company Limited (HKEX: 01133) rose 4%.

China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (HKEX: 03808) shares soared over 10% after Citigroup reported that the company's management had raised its full-year export sales guidance.

Akeso, Inc. (HKEX: 09926) climbed 4.8% following an overall survival update from the global Phase III HARMONi study for ivonescimab, which showed highly consistent efficacy between Eastern and Western patient populations.

Befar Group Co., Ltd. (HKEX: 06745) surged over 18% to a new all-time high after its parent company, Befar Group, commenced production at its electronic-grade 6N high-purity hydrogen fluoride gas project.

Edge Medical-B (HKEX: 02675) jumped more than 9% as the company officially entered the Australian market, with three of its self-developed surgical robot products receiving simultaneous approval.

XtalPi-P (HKEX: 07666) gained over 6%. The company noted that its candidate MTS-128 progressed from preclinical candidate to a completed business development deal in just six months.

San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong Limited (HKEX: 00236) fell more than 8% after the company forecasted a 77.7% year-on-year decline in its first-half net profit.
