Several companies have announced they will grant a holiday this coming Monday, July 20th, to allow employees to watch the FIFA World Cup final.
The final match, featuring Spain versus Argentina, is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 AM local time on Monday. Adidas released a screenshot of an internal email stating that, to enable every colleague to fully enjoy the World Cup final, the company will provide a special one-day holiday for all office staff on July 20th, barring critical work meetings. The post encouraged everyone to focus on the pitch and cheer for the showdown between Spain and Argentina.
Adidas Sports (China) Co., Ltd. reposted the message with the caption, "If you're not coming to work, then I'm not either."
On the same day, Lingxi Interactive Entertainment announced "all staff will be on holiday Monday morning."
On July 15th, NetEase announced that all employees would have a half-day holiday on the morning of Monday, July 20th, to enjoy the final night. Similarly, 37 Interactive Entertainment posted that for the World Cup final, all staff would have a half-day holiday next Monday.
Major Event Technology Group introduced a "World Cup Exclusive Holiday," stating that colleagues planning to watch the final must clock in at the match's start time. The clock-in record will serve as confirmation, and employees are asked to manage their viewing and rest time appropriately and return to work on time Monday afternoon.
The announcements follow the conclusion of the second semi-final of the FIFA World Cup, where Argentina came from behind to defeat England 2-1, securing their place in the final for the second consecutive tournament. Spain and Argentina will now compete for the championship, while France and England will play for third and fourth place.
