A journey of just over two hours by car from Chengdu leads to the Qiangrengu Ski Resort, located in Wenchuan County within the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. During the recent Spring Festival holiday, visitors traveled from various regions to experience the thrill of winter sports in southern China. Compared to previous snow seasons, the resort has expanded its snow play area this year to better accommodate family outings. Young adults can enjoy skiing, while children have space for snow activities. Liu Jie, the site manager of Qiangrengu Ski Resort, mentioned that the facility currently operates ten ski runs and employs more than 160 instructors. Future plans include adding multiple advanced runs to meet the demands of experienced skiers. The resort benefits from an extended snow season lasting four to five months, offering visitors opportunities to admire blue ice formations and engage in skiing. During the 2024–2025 snow season, the ski resort welcomed over 120,000 guests. This influx not only boosted occupancy rates at nearby lodgings but also drove a significant increase in sales of local ethnic cuisine, creating a positive cycle where winter attractions draw visitors, local businesses thrive, and the broader community benefits. Nationally, the winter tourism economy continues to gain momentum. In Sichuan, diverse approaches such as combining冰雪 with culture, educational activities, and folk traditions are helping turn cold-weather resources into sustained economic warmth.
