The 2026 Boao Forum for Real Estate, themed "Waves and Growth," is taking place in Hainan from August 11 to 14. Chen Huai, a professor in the Department of Urban and Rural Construction Economics at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated that the core of the shift between old and new growth drivers lies not in policy, but in changes to concepts and mechanisms. Urbanization, he added, is the key variable in this transformation.

Addressing the issue of intense competition, Chen Huai pointed out that true competition should involve surpassing rivals in technology, quality, and management. If companies rely on opportunistic shortcuts to win, they will never achieve genuine growth.
