According to Wedbush Securities, NVIDIA's (NVDA.US) $2 billion investment and strategic partnership with Marvell Technology (MRVL.US) is entirely focused on advancing NVIDIA's NVLink Fusion technology. Analyst Matt Bryson stated in a client report that the collaboration involves joint work on core technologies such as NVLink, AI-RAM, optical networking, and silicon photonics. He noted that it remains unclear which specific aspect of this technological cooperation was most critical for NVIDIA in driving the deal. On the other hand, Bryson suggested that given the scale of NVIDIA's investment, Marvell Technology has strong incentive to complete the transaction regardless of whether it yields significant technical or operational benefits. NVIDIA's NVLink Fusion is the company's rack-scale artificial intelligence infrastructure, enabling hyperscale data centers and custom ASIC designers—such as Marvell Technology—to integrate their custom CPUs and XPUs with NVIDIA's NVLink interconnect technology. Marvell Technology produces custom XPUs for several major clients, including Microsoft (MSFT.US) and Amazon (AMZN.US). As part of the agreement, Marvell will supply custom AI accelerators (XPUs) and NVLink Fusion-compatible scale-out networking solutions. NVIDIA will contribute its Vera CPU, ConnectX network adapters, Bluefield DPUs, NVLink interconnect technology, Spectrum-X switches, and rack-level AI computing capabilities.
