Major Developments Across Multiple Sectors
Central government allocated 1.7 billion yuan in rewards to Tianjin, involving six districts.
Tianjin and Beijing jointly submitted a project for the ecological protection and restoration of mountains, waters, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts in the area from the southern foothills of the Yanshan Mountains to the Bohai Bay coastline (Haihe River Basin). This initiative was successfully included in the first batch of national "15th Five-Year Plan" ecological projects, securing 1.7 billion yuan in central reward funds. The project covers six districts in Tianjin, including Jizhou, Baodi, Ninghe, Jinnan, Jinghai, and the Binhai New Area.
Following approval by the State Council, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for Building a Strong Tourism Nation." The plan designates Tianjin as one of 32 cities to enhance its tourism hub functions, and it has also been selected as a key city for cultivating inbound tourism.
Economic and Infrastructure Milestones
Tianjin's 20 major public welfare projects for 2026 have released their first-half results. By the end of June, 7 of 66 specific tasks had been completed, 30 exceeded or met their first-half targets ahead of schedule, and 29 were completed on time.
According to Tianjin Customs, the city's total import and export value reached 405.9 billion yuan in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. Exports totaled 226.6 billion yuan, up 9.2%. Both import/export and export figures set new historical highs for the period.
In the first half of 2026, Tianjin Port achieved a year-on-year increase of over 2% in cargo throughput and over 6% in container throughput, both setting new records, successfully achieving "half-time targets" for production and operations.
Policy Updates and Social Benefits
The Tianjin Housing Provident Fund Management Center announced an adjustment to the 2026 housing provident fund contribution amounts, effective from July 1. The new contribution base will be based on employees' average monthly salary for 2025, replacing the 2024 base. The minimum contribution base is set at 2,510 yuan, and the maximum at 28,917 yuan.
On July 8, the 2025 National Science and Technology Awards were announced, with 258 projects and 11 experts recognized. Tianjin won 22 national-level awards.

Progress on Key Urban Projects
Metro Line 8, a key project in the 2026 public welfare initiative, has entered its final construction and commissioning phase and is expected to be completed and operational within the year.
Transfer channel construction at the Tumor Hospital Station, which connects Metro Lines 5, 6, and 7, has completed main structure work and is scheduled to finish by the end of August, allowing direct access to the hospital from Line 6.
The fourth phase of the Liulin Park project is now complete, with a children's playground under construction. The Liulin Bay water system's 34,000-square-meter boating park will open in late July, while the Phase 2 exploration park is set to debut in "October 2026" and the ice and snow world by the end of 2026.
