On the afternoon of April 11, Liu Jingkang, founder of Insta360, announced the open-sourcing of four core achievements in panoramic technology.

Liu Jingkang stated that Insta360 has accumulated 10 years of panoramic data and AI technology. Over the past six months, its AI research institute has had four papers accepted at top-tier academic conferences. He emphasized that the company is not only committed to in-house research and development but also aims to share its foundational academic achievements with the industry through open-source initiatives. According to Liu, true breakthroughs are not achieved behind closed doors; instead, the goal is to collaboratively expand the industry as a whole.

Liu revealed that several key projects have already been made open-source, including Insta360's high-fidelity panoramic drone simulation platform AirSim360 and the DAP panoramic metric depth model. Developers are encouraged to build upon these resources to create value. In recognition of contributions that drive industry progress, Insta360 will award more golden keycaps as incentives.

It was noted that during a recent hackathon event in Shanghai, Liu presented a 25-gram golden keycap to the winning MVP participant. Awarding golden keycaps to outstanding internal developers has been a tradition during Insta360's Programmer’s Day celebrations. This marked the first time the company presented the honor to an external developer.
