BYD Executive Vice President and President of the Americas, Li Ke, revealed in a recent interview that the company is currently in talks to enter the Formula 1 (F1) World Championship.

The F1 World Championship is the highest class of international auto racing sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It is widely regarded as the pinnacle of motorsport, alongside the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup, as one of the world's three major sporting events.

Li Ke disclosed that the BYD team has already met with the CEO of Formula 1 in Shanghai to discuss the potential entry and that the two parties maintain close contact. "Formula 1 represents passion and culture. Entering F1 is a dream for many and presents an excellent opportunity to test BYD's technology," Li stated.

According to the report, BYD is considering three possible avenues for its F1 involvement: owning a team, becoming a power unit supplier, or becoming a major partner of the championship. The specific approach BYD will take is expected to be announced by the company at a later date.
