On July 7th, a recent initiative aimed at safeguarding the healthy development of adolescent girls in remote regions has been launched. The "Bean Sprout Guardian Initiative," spearheaded by the So Young Public Welfare Foundation, has entered Tengchong City in Yunnan Province. In collaboration with the Beijing Zhongyi Foundation and the Shenzhen Houpu Public Welfare Foundation, the program is conducting activities focused on adolescent health education and material support. The effort seeks to explore systematic care pathways for rural children, thereby fostering the healthy and confident growth of young people in these areas.
The "Bean Sprout Guardian Initiative" is a public welfare project initiated by the So Young Public Welfare Foundation in 2022. It operates on a "1+1+1" model: one school, one public youth education class, and one youth guardian kit. This model is continuously advanced to cover multiple dimensions including menstrual hygiene habits, physical and mental awareness, boundary consciousness, and self-protection capabilities. The project is dedicated to helping rural left-behind children establish a scientific and healthy growth framework. This recent activity by So Young's initiative reached Tengchong No. 7 Middle School and Jietou Town Central Primary School, distributing a total of 1,000 "Youth Guardian Kits." It also concurrently launched a series of health education courses such as "Youth Aesthetic Education" and "Embracing Adolescence."
Over the past five years, this project has extended its reach to 21 schools across 11 provinces nationwide, cumulatively benefiting over 10,000 rural adolescents. Looking ahead, the "Bean Sprout Guardian Initiative" plans to continue partnering with more caring forces in society to maintain its focus on the health and safety education of rural youth during their adolescent years.
