Eugene Tan, an assistant economist at Moody's Analytics, stated that Thailand's rubber industry could face severe setbacks due to recent floods in the region. Thailand is the world's largest producer and exporter of natural rubber, and the sector is a significant contributor to the country's economy. Most plantations are concentrated in the southern provinces, which have been the hardest-hit areas in the current floods. Tan noted that moderate flooding in October had already led to a decline in rubber production. He added, "The more severe flooding in November will have a deeper impact on rubber output."
