Meta Announces Workforce Reduction and Flattened Management Structure

Deep News05-19 22:10

Meta Platforms has informed its employees of plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 10%. Affected staff will receive notifications at 4 a.m. local time. Concurrently, around 7,000 employees will be reassigned to projects related to artificial intelligence, and the company will flatten its management hierarchy. This represents another round of restructuring following the significant layoffs in 2025, as Meta aims to control costs and sharpen its focus on AI strategy. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reallocating company resources towards AI and the metaverse. The practice of sending notifications at 4 a.m. has drawn employee dissatisfaction, though it is noted to improve the efficiency of notifications across global time zones.
