French President Emmanuel Macron has cautioned that the increasing deregulation of crypto assets and stablecoins in the United States may lead to global financial instability. He warned that stablecoins, closely tied to dollar-denominated assets, could spill risks into global markets if improperly regulated.
Macron stressed that Europe must maintain monetary sovereignty and should not follow the US path of deregulation. He urged the European Central Bank (ECB) to adjust monetary policies to address emerging financial risks.
Recently, the total market capitalization of global stablecoins surged nearly 50%, surpassing $300 billion. ECB officials have warned that these assets could pose systemic risks.
