China's industrial robot production rose 29.1% year on year in the first three quarters of this year, according to official data released on October 19.

Mao Shengyong, deputy head of the National Bureau of Statistics, said at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office in Beijing that the equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing sectors provided clear support to overall growth during the period.

He noted that output of 3D printing equipment climbed 62.5% year on year, while lithium-ion battery production increased 39.5% over the same period.

The figures underscore the continued expansion of China's advanced manufacturing base, with high-tech industries playing an increasingly prominent role in driving industrial output.
