Stock Track | StoneX Group Plunges 6.54% After Q3 Earnings Miss Analyst Estimates

Stock Track08-06

Shares of StoneX Group Inc. (SNEX) plunged 6.54% in post-market trading on Thursday after the financial services firm reported fiscal third-quarter earnings that fell short of Wall Street expectations.

StoneX reported adjusted earnings of $1.00 per share for the quarter ended June 30, missing the consensus analyst estimate of $1.09 per share, according to LSEG data. While net income more than doubled to $127.9 million and net operating revenue surged 47% to $719.7 million, the bottom-line miss overshadowed the strong year-over-year growth and triggered a sharp sell-off.

The earnings shortfall came despite broad gains across the company's Commercial and Institutional segments, which benefited from the R.J. O'Brien acquisition. The Self-Directed/Retail segment remained a drag, with operating revenue declining 13%. The post-market decline reflects investor disappointment that robust revenue growth did not translate into earnings that met Wall Street's targets.
