In recent years, Guangxi Free Trade Zone Linhai Supply Chain Co., Ltd. has leveraged the locational advantages of Qinzhou Port, integrating policies from the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area with local aquatic resources to build a comprehensive cold chain logistics industrial chain. The company focuses on golden pompano processing, expanding deep-processing operations for seafood, and perfecting an integrated "aquaculture-processing-trade" layout. This drives Qinzhou's seafood products into national and ASEAN markets, fulfilling the strategic goal of "thriving from the sea."
At the Linhai Cold Chain Processing (Huangma) Base, workers are packaging golden pompano. Recently, it was observed at the processing base that workers were busy feeding a batch of fresh golden pompano harvested from the Beibu Gulf into the production line. After undergoing processes such as cleaning, sorting, and quick-freezing, these fish are swiftly processed into frozen products, packed into boxes, and neatly stacked on refrigerated transport vehicles. It is reported that this shipment will be sent to markets in Fujian, Shandong, Guangzhou, and other regions, expected to arrive within 48 hours to ensure consumers can enjoy high-quality seafood.
Xu Weiming, Market Department Manager of Guangxi Free Trade Zone Linhai Supply Chain Co., Ltd., explained that there are currently four main production lines: two are for cooked shrimp-related products, one is a glazing workshop for golden pompano, and one is for shrimp paste production. The second floor is equipped with a shrimp peeling workshop that can accommodate 300 people, which can also handle oyster processing. The current oyster processing method involves shucking before freezing for export.
At the Linhai Cold Chain Processing (Huangma) Base, workers retrieve goods from the low-temperature cold storage. Presently, Linhai Cold Chain primarily focuses on the cold chain processing of specialty aquatic products from the Beibu Gulf, such as golden pompano. The core processing techniques cover the entire workflow from raw material sorting and cleaning to quick-freezing and low-temperature packaging. To ensure the freshness and quality safety of the aquatic products, the base has established a full-process standardized control system: upon arrival, raw materials undergo strict screening to prevent substandard products from entering; during processing, constant-temperature clean workshops are used, maintaining an ambient temperature of around 20°C to avoid secondary contamination; food-grade equipment is employed for cutting and cleaning, with operators wearing sterile protective gear throughout, strictly adhering to food safety production standards; the quick-freezing stage utilizes rapid freezing technology to lower the core temperature of the products to below -18°C in a short time, maximizing the retention of moisture and nutrients in the fish and reducing quality loss.
Xu Weiming stated that since the beginning of this year, the company has successively exported golden pompano to Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines and Malaysia. To date, the export volume has reached seven to eight containers, each weighing over 20 tons. The company's base has a storage capacity of 15,000 tons for golden pompano. In the next step, the company will attempt to export golden pompano to European and American countries.
It is reported that the Linhai Cold Chain Processing Base is one of the core hubs in the complete aquatic product industrial chain developed by Guangxi Free Trade Zone Linhai Supply Chain Co., Ltd. Adjacent to the Beibu Gulf aquaculture production area and the Qinzhou Port core logistics hub, the base covers an area of 36 mu and officially commenced operations in May 2025. It focuses on three core business segments: aquatic product processing, standardized packaging, and intelligent cold storage. It is equipped with standard production workshops, packaging workshops, low-temperature cold storage, and corresponding logistics facilities, having already achieved scaled and standardized production. The base primarily serves the company's processing, storage, and transit needs for golden pompano, oysters, shrimp, and other sectors, while also catering to the processing and cold storage requirements of surrounding aquaculture farmers, effectively contributing to the quality improvement and efficiency enhancement of Beibu Gulf aquatic products.
