Dong Mingzhu has stepped down from her roles as the legal representative and executive director of Zhuhai Gree Electronic Components Co., Ltd.
Fang Xiangjian, a seasoned veteran at Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai, has taken over as the new legal representative and executive director. Fang has been with Gree for many years and was appointed Vice President in November 2021, a position he continues to hold.
Established in July 2022 with a registered capital of 1 billion yuan, Zhuhai Gree Electronic Components Co., Ltd. is engaged in the manufacturing and wholesale of electronic components, as well as the production of power electronic components. The company is wholly owned by Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai.
Prior to this change, in June 2025, Dong Mingzhu also resigned from her positions as the legal representative and chairman of Zhuhai Zero Boundary Integrated Circuit Co., Ltd. This company focuses on integrated circuit chip design and services, sales of integrated circuit chips and products, and electronic product sales. According to its official website, Zero Boundary is a key force for Gree in entering the chip industry and mastering core semiconductor technologies.
According to Gree's investor research minutes from June 2025, the company entered the chip sector in 2015. Its chip factory's first phase is planned with an annual capacity of 240,000 wafers. Gree's current chip products primarily include power semiconductor products and integrated circuit chips. The power semiconductors include IGBT, FRD, IPM, silicon-based power modules, SiC SBD, MOS, and SiC power modules, while the integrated circuit chips comprise three series of 32-bit MCUs—general industrial control, low-power, and high-performance—as well as AI SoC chips.
Gree stated that its self-developed chips are already widely used in its household air conditioner products, accounting for approximately 30% of the applications. These self-developed chips are also utilized in Gree's commercial air conditioners, intelligent equipment, and industrial robots.
Notably, Gree's chips have recently been gaining significant attention. Public reports indicate that Feng Yin, Assistant to the President of Gree and General Manager of Zhuhai Gree Electronic Components Co., Ltd., revealed at the Greater Bay Area Compound Semiconductor Ecosystem Application Conference that after mass-producing silicon carbide chips for home appliances, Gree will also begin mass-producing SiC chips for photovoltaic storage and logistics vehicles this year.
It was reported that Gree established Zero Boundary in 2018 for chip design and set up the Electronic Components company in 2022, primarily engaged in the design, tape-out, module packaging, and testing of silicon carbide chips. Gree's SiC chip factory broke ground in December 2022, achieved product line connectivity by the end of 2023, and its first phase is planned for an annual capacity of 240,000 6-inch SiC wafers. Throughout 2025, Gree's cumulative chip sales exceeded 300 million units.
Additionally, widespread rumors suggested that "Dong Mingzhu claimed Gree would supply half of GAC's future chips." On January 20, GAC Group officially refuted these claims on its WeChat account, stating that the online reports were inaccurate. The clarification noted that on January 15, GAC Group Chairman Feng Xingya led a delegation to visit Gree and discussed the integrated development of the "human-vehicle-home" smart ecosystem and industrial collaboration with Chairman Dong Mingzhu and the management team. GAC stated that any specific progress on cooperation would be announced through official channels first.
