Cathay Pacific Airways Limited (293) and its subsidiary HK Express recorded notable increases in passenger and cargo figures for October 2025. The consolidated passenger count for Cathay Pacific and HK Express exceeded 3.2 million, a 21% increase from the previous month. Cargo volumes likewise strengthened, with Cathay Cargo carrying over 150,000 tonnes in October, up 12% month on month.
Cathay Pacific reported a 29% year-on-year rise in passenger numbers for October 2025 and a 27% increase for the first 10 months of the year. The airline’s load factor reached 86% in October, supported by steady leisure and business travel demand from multiple regions, including the Chinese Mainland. Looking ahead, the company observes strong bookings through the Christmas travel season, particularly from North America, the United Kingdom, and other long-haul markets.
Cathay Cargo reported a 6% rise in tonnage year on year for October 2025, reflecting an ongoing recovery in shipping volumes. Demand for time-sensitive shipments and fresh produce transport, particularly from Southeast Asia and Oceania to Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, contributed to the overall volume growth.
HK Express recorded a 32% year-on-year increase in passengers, carrying over 680,000 travelers in October 2025. Network expansion and robust holiday traffic contributed to its growth, and forward bookings remain positive.
The Cathay Group announced continued expansion of its route network to destinations such as Changsha, Adelaide, and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah), aiming to address the rising travel demand. During the upcoming winter peak season, the group plans to operate around 330 weekly return flights to the Chinese Mainland, close to 100 to Oceania, and over 430 to Southeast Asia.
