Stock News12-02

TCL Electronics (01070) surged nearly 6% in early trading, gaining 5.32% to HK$10.69 by the time of writing, with a turnover of HK$66.6 million. The rally follows news that its subsidiary Thunderbird Innovation recently secured hundreds of millions in Series C funding, marking the largest single financing round in China's AI+AR smart glasses sector in 2025.

The proceeds will accelerate R&D and ecosystem development for AI+AR glasses, focusing on core technologies such as near-eye displays, AI algorithms, and multimodal interaction. The funding aims to strengthen Thunderbird Innovation's leadership in the global consumer AI+AR smart glasses market and expand its global footprint.

Analysts at Guotai Junan noted that Thunderbird Innovation, incubated by TCL Electronics, boasts a core team with expertise from TCL, DJI, Meta, and ByteDance, giving it a competitive edge. The brokerage highlighted TCL Electronics' improving profitability and expects its 11.5% stake in Thunderbird Innovation—a market leader in AI smart glasses—to benefit significantly from the AI industry boom.
