CARsgen Therapeutics Holdings Limited (CARsgen) disclosed that preliminary results from its China-based Phase Ib study (CT041-CG4010, NCT06857786) of satricabtagene autoleucel (satri-cel, CT041) were presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress 2026 on 25 October 2026. The data were highlighted in a poster session titled “Satricabtagene autoleucel (satri-cel) as consolidation therapy following adjuvant treatment for locally advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer (G/GEJC): preliminary results from a phase Ib trial.”
Satri-cel is an autologous CAR T-cell therapy targeting Claudin18.2 and is described by CARsgen as the world’s first approved CAR T-cell treatment for solid tumours. In June 2026 China’s National Medical Products Administration cleared satri-cel for Claudin18.2-positive, HER2-negative advanced gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma in patients who have progressed after at least two prior treatment lines.
The company is widening the clinical programme for satri-cel into earlier-line and peri-operative settings. Ongoing studies include: 1. A Phase I trial evaluating satri-cel as adjuvant therapy in pancreatic cancer (NCT05911217). 2. The investigator-initiated Phase Ib consolidation study in resected G/GEJC (NCT06857786) reported at ESMO 2026. 3. An additional investigator-initiated trial assessing sequential use after first-line therapy in G/GEJC (NCT07179484).
CARsgen reiterated its commitment to advancing innovative CAR T therapies across solid tumours, haematologic malignancies and autoimmune diseases, supported by in-house target discovery, clinical development capabilities and commercial-scale manufacturing.
The company cautioned that successful development or commercialisation of satri-cel outside mainland China is not guaranteed and highlighted the forward-looking nature of its statements, which are subject to risks outlined in its most recent reports.
