Hormuz Strait Sees Commercial Shipping Plummet to Near-Zero Levels

Deep News05-08

According to data from the vessel tracking website MarineTraffic cited in reports, commercial vessel traffic through the Hormuz Strait has fallen to historically low levels over the past 48 hours. Public data shows that no ships have transited between the Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf in the last two days. MarineTraffic data illustrates the shipping situation around the Hormuz Strait during the previous 48-hour period. GPS signal interference remains widespread: while several vessels appeared to be navigating within the strait, at least four were clearly broadcasting false positions, showing locations either over land or above shallow sandbanks—areas considered extremely hazardous for cargo ships. GPS spoofing has also been observed off the coasts of Sharjah, Dibba, and Fujairah in the UAE, with multiple vessels' positions clustered and displayed at the same location simultaneously.
