On January 9, the National Financial Regulatory Administration issued an official reply approving the qualifications of Edward John Weeks to serve as a Director and Deputy President of HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited.

The National Financial Regulatory Administration stated that the bank must ensure the approved individual strictly adheres to the relevant regulatory provisions of the Administration. The appointee is required to assume the position within three months from the date of this administrative licensing decision and must report the assumption of duties in a timely manner as required. Should the individual fail to assume the position within the stipulated timeframe, this approval document will become invalid, and the deciding authority will proceed with the cancellation of the administrative license.
