China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (01088) rose more than 3% intraday, and as of press time, its share price was up 2.33% at HK$42.18, with turnover of HK$190.4 million.
Recently, China Shenhua Energy Company Limited disclosed its third-quarter results. Great Wall Securities pointed out that the company's Q3 2026 operating revenue was RMB 106.69 billion, down 10.3% quarter-on-quarter; net profit attributable to shareholders was RMB 15.69 billion, down 13.1% quarter-on-quarter. The brokerage judged that the decline in production and sales of self-produced coal offset the contribution of rising coal prices, which may be related to stricter safety supervision in the third quarter after mine accidents; Q3 2026 investment income was RMB 664 million, down 46.5% quarter-on-quarter, dragged down by lower returns from power plants jointly invested with GD Power. Looking ahead to Q4 2026, the brokerage believes that supply guarantees are expected to drive a recovery in coal production and sales, and coupled with winter storage, this is expected to support an upward shift in the coal price center, with quarterly net profit attributable to shareholders expected to rebound.
BOCI issued a report stating that China Shenhua Energy Company Limited's third-quarter net profit under IFRS rose 3% year-on-year to RMB 16.3 billion, 14% below the bank's forecast, mainly due to weaker-than-expected performance in the coal and power segments. Looking ahead, the bank expects the company's fourth-quarter earnings to grow 3% quarter-on-quarter, mainly benefiting from expectations of stronger thermal coal prices in winter. The bank lowered its 2026 to 2028 earnings forecasts by 5% and cut its target price from HK$50.7 to HK$48.46, but reiterated its "Buy" rating.
