Recently, a video of a grandfather in Beijing purchasing a zodiac gold bar for his grandson has sparked widespread discussion online.
On February 1st, the grandfather explained that he buys a gold bar as a gift for his grandson every year, each time packaging it in a separate, specially bought box. To date, he has purchased eight gold bars for his eight-year-old grandson, with this year's purchase weighing 20 grams.
He further added that he intends to continue buying these bars regardless of whether the price of gold rises or falls. His goal is to complete a full set of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals for his grandson while he is still alive, wishing to leave something meaningful for the child as an elder family member.
The grandfather's heartfelt words ignited envy among netizens, with one user jokingly asking, "Grandpa, are you looking for another grandson?". Another commenter playfully reminded others to "please queue in an orderly fashion." Meanwhile, some netizens expressed that being a loving grandfather is what truly matters, regardless of whether one can afford to buy gold bars for their grandchildren.
