Around 7 PM on September 26th, an SF INTRA-CITY rider was unprovokedly assaulted by a man while waiting for orders outside a coffee shop. On the evening of the incident, the rider was normally waiting for orders outside the coffee shop when a seemingly intoxicated man approached and demanded that the rider transport him elsewhere using his electric bike. The rider politely explained that he was working and could not fulfill this request. After the man made the request again but the rider ignored him, the man began verbally abusing and physically attacking the rider. Throughout the entire process, the rider never engaged in direct confrontation with the attacker and never fought back. Several riders wearing Ele.me uniforms and enthusiastic citizens who witnessed the incident stepped forward and worked together to restrain the drunk man. Eventually, police arrived at the scene and took him away.
