The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security recently held its 2026 Summer Academic Leave program for experts under the theme "Wisdom Ignites Frontiers, Innovation Shares the Future" in Yuxi, Yunnan Province.
The event, running from June 29th to July 3rd, brought together 58 specialists in the field of artificial intelligence from universities, research institutions, and enterprises.
During the program, Wang Xiaoping, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry, made a special trip to Yuxi to visit the participating experts and convened a symposium to gather their insights and suggestions on the cutting-edge development of AI and its application in empowering the ministry's work.
Yuan Fang, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Governor of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, also attended the symposium.
The academic leave schedule featured multiple segments including keynote presentations, exchange discussions, and specialized research visits.
Academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered keynote reports on major issues within the AI field.
Experts engaged in in-depth discussions on the historical position and contemporary imperatives of AI development.
Focusing on the "AI+" initiative, they examined key tasks such as discipline construction, transformation of research paradigms, industrial development, and safety and ethics, drawing from their respective research and practical experiences.
The participants actively offered suggestions on major challenges and future directions in AI, as well as its impact on economic and social development, particularly concerning talent and employment.
The human resources department organized visits for the experts to leading local enterprises for thematic research on AI empowerment and facilitated exchange and connection meetings with scholars and AI companies within Yunnan Province.
