Provincial Party Secretary Conducts Undercover Inspection After Public Complaints on Water Supply Issues: Ensuring Safe Drinking Water for Residents

Deep News11-17

On November 14, Hunan Provincial Party Secretary Shen Xiaoming conducted research on economic and social development in Yongzhou and chaired a symposium. During the inspection, Shen carried out an unannounced visit to Zaohuichong Village, Qiliqiao Town, Qiyang City, addressing long-standing issues with the delayed installation of tap water pipelines. He emphasized the need to adhere to practical solutions, accelerate urban-rural water supply integration, and expand rural water pipeline networks to ensure safe drinking water for residents.

Earlier this year, in April, a netizen under the username "232655" raised concerns on Rednet’s "Public Voices" platform, questioning when Zaohuichong Village would gain access to tap water. By September, the same user reiterated the inquiry. The Qiliqiao Town government responded that the expansion of the urban water supply network, including a pressure-boosting pipeline extension to Baizhutang, had commenced in November 2024. Seven villages along Qiyang Road—including Zaohuichong—were incorporated into the coverage plan. According to the town’s schedule, pipeline extensions to households in seven villages, including Zaohuichong and Baizhutang, are expected to be completed by 2025.
