On March 18, a certification ceremony was held for the 42nd batch of multinational regional headquarters and foreign-funded research and development centers. During the event, certificates were awarded to four companies: Marposs (Shanghai) Measuring Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., Blue Frog Catering Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and Reckitt (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch as multinational regional headquarters, and McDonald's (China) Company Limited as a foreign-funded R&D center. Li Kedao, China President of Marposs (Shanghai) Measuring Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a speech on behalf of the multinational regional headquarters.
As a highly competitive new hub for opening-up and a preferred destination for foreign investment in Shanghai's central urban area, Xuhui District continues to attract high-quality global foreign enterprises to establish roots, grow, and increase investment. Foreign-funded companies have become key participants, drivers, and witnesses of the district's economic and social development. The district has gathered over 4,100 foreign enterprises and now hosts a total of 176 multinational regional headquarters and foreign-funded R&D centers, maintaining a leading position among central urban areas.
Moving forward, Xuhui District will continue to focus on headquarters-type economic institutions to promote the sustained clustering of high-level entities. It will implement the "Policy Measures to Further Support the Enhancement of Foreign-Funded R&D Centers in Shanghai," assisting foreign enterprises in adding R&D innovation functions and upgrading their research capabilities. The district remains committed to deepening high-level opening-up, supporting foreign headquarters in Shanghai to enhance functions such as R&D innovation, financial management, and investment decision-making, and building a more conducive institutional environment for multinational corporations. Efforts will also be made to strengthen government-enterprise communication through regular activities like roundtable meetings with foreign companies, improving mechanisms and consolidating efforts to promptly address and respond to corporate needs. Xuhui will continue to foster a first-class, market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment, fully implementing the municipal and district-level Version 9.0 plan for optimizing the business environment to provide a solid foundation for high-quality regional development.

Its parent company, Marposs S.p.A., founded in 1952 and headquartered in Bologna, Italy, is a world-leading supplier of measurement equipment and a leader in industrial measurement. With sales and service organizations in over 20 countries and more than 3,000 employees, its products include machine tool applications, workpiece measurement sensors, and customized off-line quality control solutions for industries such as automotive, precision components, semiconductors, aerospace, and compressors.
Blue Frog Catering Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established in 2004. Its parent company, AmRest Holdings SE, headquartered in Madrid, Spain, is one of Europe's largest restaurant operators. Blue Frog specializes in Western restaurant management and operates as a professional chain brand for casual Western dining. Its core brand, "Blue Frog," focuses on American-style cuisine and bar offerings, providing creatively blended modern American grilled dishes and cocktails. After years of development, Blue Frog has expanded in first-tier and new first-tier cities, operating over 80 restaurants.
Reckitt (China) Investment Co., Ltd. Shanghai Branch was established in 2020. Its parent company, Reckitt, founded in the early 19th century and headquartered in London, UK, is a global leader in health and hygiene consumer goods, with more than 40,000 employees across over 60 countries and regions. Reckitt owns numerous market-leading brands in hygiene, health, and nutrition, including Durex, Dettol, Move Free, Intima, Finish, Veet, Vanish, and Schiff. China has now become one of Reckitt's largest markets.
2. Foreign-Funded R&D Center McDonald's (China) Company Limited was established in 1993. McDonald's is a globally renowned food service brand with over 40,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries and regions. McDonald's officially entered the Chinese mainland market in 1990. In 2017, McDonald's (China) Company Limited was renamed McDonald's (China) Company Limited, accelerating its localization efforts. In R&D, McDonald's continues to strengthen its headquarters' innovation and research functions, incubating more delicious new products, further developing an intelligent supply chain, and advancing digital transformation. By the end of last year, McDonald's China had opened over 7,700 restaurants in the mainland, employing more than 200,000 people.
