ASMPT Delivers Record Q3 2026 Orders and Surpasses Earnings Forecasts on AI-Led Demand

Bulletin Express10-28

ASMPT Limited reported its strongest quarterly intake to date, with third-quarter 2026 bookings from continuing operations leaping 137.90 % year on year to HK$8.85 billion (US$1.13 billion). The surge, driven by Thermo Compression Bonding (TCB), Surface Mount Technology (SMT) products and Photonics solutions for artificial-intelligence (AI) infrastructure, pushed the group’s book-to-bill ratio to 1.69—the highest since Q1 2021.

Group revenue rose 48.70 % year on year and 6.30 % sequentially to HK$5.25 billion (US$669.20 million), topping management guidance. Adjusted gross margin expanded 517 basis points year on year to 42.90 %, while adjusted operating profit climbed 379.20 % to HK$922.40 million. Adjusted net profit reached HK$689.70 million, up 486.30 % versus Q3 2025, translating into adjusted basic earnings per share of HK$1.65.

On a statutory basis, net profit from continuing operations swung to HK$533.20 million from a HK$286.20 million loss a year earlier, aided by revenue growth and margin expansion across both core segments. Basic earnings per share improved to HK$1.28 from a HK$0.69 loss per share in Q3 2025.

Segment highlights:

1. Semiconductor Solutions (SEMI): • Revenue advanced 68.00 % year on year to HK$2.93 billion, accounting for 56 % of group sales. • Bookings soared 156.30 % to HK$4.42 billion, buoyed by record TCB chip-to-substrate orders for AI data-centre applications and continued momentum in Photonics. • Adjusted gross margin widened 502 bps to 46.60 %; adjusted segment profit jumped 620.90 % to HK$595.40 million, despite a small sequential decline due to higher incentive provisions.

2. SMT Solutions (SMT): • Revenue increased 29.80 % year on year to HK$2.31 billion. • Bookings hit a third consecutive record at HK$4.43 billion, up 122.10 % year on year, lifted by demand for AI server boards and optical transceivers. • Adjusted gross margin improved 425 bps to 38.20 %, propelling adjusted segment profit 143.20 % higher to HK$410.40 million.

Balance-sheet items detailed in the announcement show a one-off inventory provision of HK$31.37 million linked to restructuring, while share-based payments totalled HK$92.41 million.

Management guides Q4 2026 revenue between US$670 million and US$730 million, implying mid-point growth of 4.60 % quarter on quarter and 37.50 % year on year. SMT is expected to post double-digit sequential revenue growth, with SEMI remaining broadly flat due to longer lead times in advanced-packaging orders. Bookings are projected to stay elevated but below the record Q3 level, as some SMT orders were pulled forward.

The company completed the disposal of ASMPT NEXX, Inc. on 3 June 2026, and results are now presented from continuing operations. Management reiterates a positive multi-year outlook, citing sustained AI infrastructure investment and ongoing development of next-generation packaging technologies, including panel-level solutions and hybrid bonding platforms.
