On November 6, the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. Regarding how to seize market opportunities in the AI era, Sina Finance spoke with Masaharu Nakayama, Executive Officer of Panasonic Holdings Corporation and Group Chief Executive for China and Northeast Asia. He stated that in China, with the spread of generative AI and the advancement of industrial digitalization, demand for AI computing power is growing rapidly. "We do not view this as a short-term market boom, but rather as a mid- to long-term development opportunity that can profoundly transform the industrial structure."

"We are very optimistic about the growth potential of China's AI market and are implementing concrete investment measures," he said. He noted that on October 30, 2026, Panasonic Holdings Corporation announced an investment of approximately 92 billion yen in global AI-related businesses. Of that, about 30 billion yen will be additional investment in its Suzhou factory in China to expand MEGTRON production capacity.

Masaharu Nakayama said that at this CIIE, Panasonic Holdings Corporation is focusing on two core directions supporting development in the AI era — computing power and electric power. One of the products worthy of special attention is the high-performance multilayer substrate material MEGTRON. In addition, a number of products will be exhibited: conductive polymer capacitors that can provide stable power supply for power circuits such as GPUs, capacitors capable of absorbing instantaneous power fluctuations during AI computation, and liquid cooling equipment adapted to the high-density computing needs of AI data centers.

He said that ordinary consumers cannot directly see these products, but they are the "invisible cornerstones" that support AI infrastructure in achieving high performance, stable operation, and improved energy efficiency. In addition, as server power density rises rapidly, liquid cooling technology is becoming a new benchmark for heat dissipation in high-density computing scenarios, and Panasonic Holdings Corporation is newly developing a liquid cooling business for AIDC (artificial intelligence data centers).
