WuXi AppTec Highlights 2025 Sustainability Progress: Validated SBTi Targets, 34.21% Renewable Power and Triple-A MSCI Rating

WuXi AppTec released its eighth Sustainability Report, confirming further integration of ESG targets across its global CRDMO platform for the year ended 31 December 2025.

Key environmental results show absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse-gas emissions cut 13.68% against the 2024 baseline, while emissions intensity is down 32.37% versus 2020. Renewable electricity made up 34.21% of total power, helped by on-site PV generation of 4,061 MWh and 297,961.70 MWh of purchased green power. The company’s near-term GHG-reduction targets—42% for Scope 1+2 and 25% for Scope 3 by 2030 from a 2024 base—were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. All main sites now hold ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, and regulated hazardous-waste recycling at API facilities exceeded 50%.

Operationally, 741 quality audits and inspections by customers, regulators and independent parties recorded zero critical findings, supporting WuXi AppTec’s 98% customer-satisfaction rate. Information-security controls were strengthened: 100% of main sites have ISO/IEC 27001 certification, and 60 client IT audits produced no critical findings.

Employee development remained a priority, averaging 58 training hours per capita. Female candidates accounted for 45.80% of managerial-level interviews in China, surpassing the 30% target. Companywide occupational-safety performance included a lost-time-injury rate of 0.07 per 200,000 hours worked and zero fatalities.

The firm’s governance framework features an 11-member board—45.46% executive directors and 36.36% independent non-executive directors—with 100% meeting attendance. ESG performance indicators are embedded in management remuneration.

WuXi AppTec retained major external recognitions, including MSCI’s top “AAA” ESG rating, EcoVadis Gold, CDP Climate Change “A”, and inclusion in the FTSE4Good and S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook.

Total philanthropic contributions reached RMB 2.87 million, and the company continued supply-chain oversight by screening 5,173 suppliers, completing ESG audits of 166 significant partners and delivering 1,282 training hours on sustainable procurement.
