In a recent business update, Q TECH (01478) disclosed its sales figures for May 2026. The company's sales volume for mobile phone camera modules reached 45.138 million units, representing a month-on-month increase of 7.7% and a significant year-on-year growth of 39.4%.
The combined sales volume for camera modules and lidar products totaled 47.484 million units, showing an 8% rise from the previous month and a 40% increase compared to the same period last year.
In contrast, sales for biometric modules amounted to 13.805 million units, reflecting a decline of 16.6% month-on-month and a 9.4% decrease year-on-year.
Drivers of Growth in Camera and Lidar Segments
The company attributed the sequential and annual growth in mobile phone camera module sales to an increased share of business with several key clients, including those in overseas markets.
Simultaneously, the positive sales trend for camera modules and lidar products designed for other applications continued, primarily driven by substantial year-on-year growth in sales volumes for modules used in the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart automotive sectors.
Reasons for Decline in Biometric Module Sales
The decrease in biometric module sales, both sequentially and year-on-year, was primarily due to subdued demand in the smartphone market, a situation influenced by rising memory chip prices.
