On October 30, China Construction Bank Corporation (ASX: None) held its third-quarter 2026 results briefing, where Vice President and Board Secretary Ji Zhihong said the bank closely aligns with customer needs, strengthens deposit stability and growth, and advances high-quality liability business development.

Ji said deposit growth in the first three quarters showed four features: stable total volume, improved structure, lower costs, and strong coordination.

First, total volume grew steadily. As of the end of September, China Construction Bank Corporation (ASX: None) had deposit balances of 31.91 trillion yuan, an increase of 1.07 trillion yuan from the end of last year.

Second, deposit structure improved, mainly in customer and maturity terms. Personal deposits with better stability maintained rapid growth, with their balance share rising 1.14 percentage points from the end of last year to 60.27%. Demand deposits also grew steadily, accounting for 39.99% of the total, remaining at a relatively good level among comparable peers.

Third, liability costs declined. The bank adhered to balanced development of volume and price, focused on expanding low-cost settlement funds, and used larger fund flows to drive high-quality fund retention, promoting higher deposit volume and lower prices while reasonably and orderly reducing liability costs.

Fourth, coordination between deposits and wealth management achieved results. China Construction Bank Corporation (ASX: None) advanced deposit and wealth management businesses in an integrated manner, with the overall retention rate of maturing time deposits remaining above 90%, while total funds expanded steadily. Deposits, wealth management products, insurance, precious metals and other businesses grew in a diversified way, effectively promoting the retention of low-cost funds such as transaction-related funds while meeting customers' wealth preservation and appreciation needs.

Ji said that next, China Construction Bank Corporation (ASX: None) will continue to track market dynamics, respond to changes in customer needs and fund flows, and promote coordinated development of deposit business in terms of volume, price and quality.

First, improve services. Centering on the fund settlement needs of enterprises, institutions and individual customers, China Construction Bank Corporation (ASX: None) has built a payment and settlement network and the "Xinxiangtong" comprehensive payroll service platform. On one hand, it will focus on coverage of key settlement products and scenario services, vigorously expand transaction-related funds, and drive high-quality fund retention. On the other hand, focusing on the comprehensive financial needs of payroll customers, it will provide a four-in-one exclusive service package covering settlement, wealth management, credit and benefits, building an integrated operating model linking enterprises and individuals.

Second, strengthen allocation. China Construction Bank Corporation (ASX: None) will firmly advance the development of its wealth management business, continuously improve its wealth management service system, and rely on professional capabilities and quality customer experience to enhance its ability to manage customers' total funds, promoting coordinated development between deposit business and wealth management.
