On March 28, Zhang Xue Motorcycles secured a victory at the WSBK (World Superbike Championship) Portuguese round, winning by a margin of nearly 4 seconds. This achievement marks the first time a Chinese manufacturer has topped an international mid-to-large displacement motorcycle racing event. Reaching this milestone took Zhang Xue 20 years.
In February of last year, Zhang Xue disclosed that the company was facing financial difficulties and had insufficient funds. He stated, "We had no money left to pay February salaries. I had to borrow from everywhere—friends, peers, suppliers—and even borrowed 1 million yuan from our landlord. In total, I secured 7 million yuan to cover the payroll."
When asked about being referred to as the "Lei Jun of the motorcycle world," Zhang Xue responded, "I'm not sure. First of all, I think Lei Jun is exceptionally impressive. He entered car manufacturing swiftly and often leads from the front lines. When every project participant can directly interact with decision-makers, the team's combat effectiveness, efficiency, and quality improve significantly. There isn't a rigid traditional hierarchy. The fact that their company has grown so large yet still operates this way is truly remarkable."
