Baidu (BIDU) Updates Hong Kong Buy-Back: 9.59 Million A-Shares Repurchased, HK$0.85 Billion Spent

Baidu, Inc. (BIDU) reported through a Next Day Disclosure Return that its issued Class A ordinary share count stood unchanged at 2.21 billion as of 29 September 2026. No new shares were issued during the period.

Between 7 and 29 September 2026 the company bought back 9.59 million Class A shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange for cancellation, equivalent to 0.35 % of the 2.73 billion shares authorised under the repurchase mandate approved on 26 August 2026.

Repurchase prices ranged between HK$84.75 and HK$92.38 per share, with the latest trade on 29 September involving 589,950 shares at HK$84.10–85.15 each for a total consideration of HK$50.00 million. Aggregating the 17 trading sessions disclosed, Baidu’s cash outflow for the programme amounts to roughly HK$0.85 billion, implying an average purchase price close to HK$90 per share.

All 9.59 million shares are earmarked for cancellation and have not yet been retired; consequently, Baidu’s outstanding share capital remains at 2.21 billion shares until the cancellations are processed. In line with Hong Kong Listing Rule 10.06, the company is restricted from issuing new shares or transferring treasury shares until 29 October 2026.
