Shenzhen Airport Launches Direct Passenger Flight to Luang Prabang, Laos

Deep News11-27

On November 22, Shenzhen Airport officially launched a new international passenger route to Luang Prabang, Laos, marking the addition of over 10 new international routes this year. This direct flight establishes a more convenient "air corridor" between the Greater Bay Area and Luang Prabang, fostering deeper cultural, tourism, and economic ties between the region and Laos. It also provides travelers with a new option for exploring Southeast Asia and experiencing its unique cultural charm during the winter season.

Luang Prabang, Laos' second-largest city and a renowned ancient capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The new Shenzhen-Luang Prabang route, operated by Hainan Airlines, will run once weekly. Outbound flight HU475 departs from Shenzhen at 07:35 Beijing time and arrives in Luang Prabang at 09:05 local time. The return flight, HU476, takes off from Luang Prabang at 10:55 local time and lands in Shenzhen at 14:10 Beijing time.

Previously, Shenzhen had already established a direct flight to Vientiane, Laos' capital. With the new connection to Luang Prabang, the two regions are expected to strengthen multi-dimensional cooperation in trade, investment, cultural tourism, and talent exchange, further supporting the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Laos.

Southeast Asia remains a popular travel destination for Greater Bay Area residents. Leveraging its geographical advantage of covering Southeast Asia within a four-hour flight radius, Shenzhen Airport has been expanding its regional route network. The launch of the Luang Prabang route brings the total number of Southeast Asian destinations served by Shenzhen Airport to 26 across nine countries, with over 200 weekly flights. From January to October this year, passenger traffic on Southeast Asian routes exceeded 2.6 million, accounting for more than half of Shenzhen Airport's international and regional traffic.

Moving forward, Shenzhen Airport plans to further optimize its international passenger network, with upcoming routes to Melbourne, Australia, and Kuching, Malaysia. The airport aims to exceed 60 international and regional destinations while enhancing service quality and travel options, supporting Shenzhen's economic and cultural cooperation with Belt and Road partner countries.
