BlackRock's IBIT Adds 3,441 BTC as $277 Million Flows In

Stock News08:24

According to Woofun AI, wallets tied to BlackRock's (BLK.US) iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT.US) recently received BTC assets worth roughly $277 million, a large-scale movement that has drawn intense attention to institutions' continued buying intentions while the BTC price hovers around $80,000.

Looking at the transaction details, as of the 28th (Korean time), over a span of 3 to 5 hours, a total of 3,441.176 BTC was moved from Coinbase (COIN.US) Prime to multiple IBIT-linked addresses controlled by BlackRock (BLK.US).

Data compiled by Woofun AI shows that the assets were worth approximately $276.7 million at the prevailing market price at the time, and the transfer was split into several executions, with the bulk carried out in units of 300 BTC each and a final odd-lot transfer of 141.176 BTC.

Coinbase (COIN.US) Prime, a platform providing trading and custody services to institutional investors and asset managers, is the infrastructure vehicle BlackRock uses to custody the BTC held by IBIT.

It is worth noting that large-scale fund movements involving the underlying asset wallets of spot ETFs may stem from position adjustments triggered by investor subscriptions and redemptions, or may simply be internal asset reallocation driven by custody needs between institutions. As a result, the number of transfers recorded on-chain alone is not enough to determine exactly how much new buying or net ETF inflows this represents, because these BTC may simply have been moved between different custody nodes.

This information asymmetry between asset transfers visible on-chain and genuine market demand makes it extremely challenging to predict institutional moves based solely on transfer records. This marks yet another instance, following several previous rounds of ETF position fluctuations, in which the market faces the difficulty of seeing through the surface of custody operations to discern real capital flows.
