Samsung to inject US$1 billion into US AI infrastructure firm Helix Digital

Helix Digital, an AI infrastructure company backed by US private equity giant KKR, announced on Tuesday that Samsung Electronics has pledged to invest US$1 billion through its investment fund to support the firm's global AI infrastructure buildout.

The company said the commitment represents additional funding on top of more than US$10 billion already directed into Helix's strategy.

The US-headquartered firm said its business focuses on investing in, delivering and managing infrastructure that underpins artificial intelligence (AI), spanning hyperscale data centers, power generation and transmission facilities, as well as fiber and connectivity assets.

Helix plans to leverage Nvidia's full-stack technology, combined with Samsung's technology and energy storage capabilities, to accelerate the development and delivery of AI infrastructure.

Helix's cornerstone investors include KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority and Nvidia, among others.
