Jeju Air reported on Monday that its passenger volume on Japan routes exceeded 4 million in 2025, primarily driven by the weak Japanese yen.
According to a press release from Jeju Air, the number of passengers on its Japan routes reached a record 4.027 million last year, marking a 4.8% increase from the 3.842 million passengers carried the previous year.
"In addition to the weak yen, an increase in flight supply and a growing preference for short-haul travel also contributed to this figure," the company added.
Analyzing the routes, the Incheon-Narita route carried the most passengers at 601,000, followed by the Incheon-Osaka route with 574,000 passengers, and the Incheon-Fukuoka route with 522,000 passengers.
The company stated that foreign passengers, including Japanese citizens, accounted for 32.6% of the total last year.
Jeju Air, South Korea's largest low-cost carrier, currently operates a fleet of 43 aircraft, serving 6 domestic routes and 62 international routes. Among these, 17 routes connect to major cities in Japan.
