According to Zhi Tong Finance APP, the Value Partners Optical Communication Active ETF (02811) fell more than 5%. The ETF adopts an actively managed approach, focusing on companies with core competitiveness in the global optical communication industry chain. As of press time, it dropped 5.36% to HK$13.42, with a turnover of HK$1.466 million.
On the news front, U.S. optical communication stocks experienced a sharp decline on Monday, with Lumentum and Coherent closing down 9.8% and 7.9% respectively. Regarding this selloff, market analysis suggests that investors' reaction may be related to a technology demonstration held by Lumentum, Astera Labs, and Corning on Monday at the 2026 Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit in San Jose, California. Giuseppe Sette, President and Co-founder of AI investment analysis platform Reflexivity, stated that the market had already priced in the expectations brought by this demonstration.
Additionally, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan recently said at a panel discussion held in Singapore that funding shortages are the biggest bottleneck facing the current AI construction boom. Morningstar analyst Martin Szumski noted that optical communication companies' revenues are highly dependent on capital expenditure commitments from hyperscale cloud service providers. Hock Tan's remarks may indicate that the market is beginning to see signs that hyperscale cloud service providers are no longer "continuously spending aggressively regardless of cost."
