Chinese brokerage stocks broadly weakened, with Shenwan Hongyuan Group Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 06806) falling 5.2% to HK$2.095, CSC (ASX: 06066) dropping 4.07% to HK$10.14, and GTHT (ASX: 02611) declining 2.66% to HK$12.79.
Recently, several listed brokerages released their 2026 third-quarter reports, showing an overall divergence of "cumulative growth in the first three quarters but pressure in the third quarter alone." Some listed brokerages saw large performance fluctuations due to proprietary trading, triggering market concerns.
Notably, in the third quarter, public funds reduced their allocations to brokerages amid fluctuations in market conditions and trading volume, and Chinese brokerages were simultaneously underweighted. UBS noted in a recent research report that it expects the recurring net profit of listed brokerages to slow to 16% year-on-year growth in the third quarter, below the 83% and 39% growth in the second and first quarters, and down 18% quarter-on-quarter, reflecting weaker trading activity and softer market conditions, while the listing of Changxin Technology provides a key earnings buffer.
