Stock News15:26

On August 31st, China's three major A-share indices opened lower but rallied throughout the session, closing collectively higher, with the STAR 50 leading the gains. By the close, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.86% to 3986.30 points, the Shenzhen Component Index increased 0.44% to 14015.00 points, the ChiNext Index gained 0.42% to 3438.68 points, the STAR 50 climbed 1.34% to 1684.39 points, and the Beijing Stock Exchange 50 edged up 0.14% to 1065.29 points. Total trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges reached 2131.03 billion yuan, expanding by approximately 29.3 billion yuan compared to the previous session. Across the broader market, 3,181 stocks advanced while 2,218 declined, with 89 hitting the daily limit up and 13 hitting the daily limit down, resulting in 57% of listed stocks trading higher.

In terms of sector performance, digital media, film and television production, publishing, broadcasting, and advertising marketing—all within the media space—led the gains, while state-owned large banks, IT services, computer equipment, and general equipment also strengthened. On the downside, jewelry, passenger vehicles, photovoltaic equipment, precious metals, crop farming, and fisheries underperformed. The market's low-open-high-close pattern was driven by the STAR 50's 1.34% lead, while the media sector ignited a wave of limit-up moves.

The domestic debut of the first AI-produced long-form drama to air on satellite television, "Journey to the West: The Later Chronicles," was officially scheduled for August 31st, premiering on Mango TV and Hunan Satellite TV during prime time. The show, entirely generated through AIGC without any human actors, also marks the first series to adopt a "produce-while-review-while-broadcast" model following the issuance of the "Radio and Television 21 Measures," directly fueling a limit-up surge in media and AI application stocks. Additionally, the People's Bank of China and the National Financial Regulatory Administration jointly issued a policy on August 28th to reform and improve real estate credit management, extending the maximum term for individual housing loans from 30 to 40 years and establishing a lead bank system for real estate development loans. This policy drove the state-owned large bank sector up 2.94%, leading the broader financial sector. Conversely, gold-jewelry and agricultural stocks, which had previously rallied consecutively, saw pullbacks, with the jewelry sector falling 4.67% to lead declines, precious metals dropping 2.67%, and crop farming and fisheries both declining over 2.4%.

In the media/AI application segment, the satellite broadcast of the AI-produced drama triggered a limit-up frenzy, with digital media rising 7.19%, film and television production up 7.02%, and publishing gaining 5.26%, leading the Shenwan industry rankings. Notable movers included Mango Excellent Media and Chinese Online, which both hit 20% limit-ups, Huace Film & TV advancing 15.77%, Haikan Shares climbing 19.99%, and China Guangze, Huanrui Century, and IReader Technology all hitting limit-ups. The catalyst was the official scheduling of the AI-produced drama "The Later Chronicles of Journey to the West," which uses AIGC for visuals and character performances with no human actors, marking the first time AI content has entered mainstream television programming.

In the banking and financial sector, state-owned large banks led with a 2.94% gain, as Postal Savings Bank of China rose 5.41% to lead the pack, China Minsheng Bank added 3.22%, and Qilu Bank climbed 6.68%, with city commercial banks and rural commercial banks also strengthening in tandem. The news driver was the real estate credit regulation jointly issued by the central bank and the financial regulator on August 28th, which extends personal housing loan terms to a maximum of 40 years and establishes a lead bank system for development loans.

In the computer equipment and computing hardware space, computing power-related stocks rallied collectively, with IT services gaining 2.84% and computer equipment rising 2.82%. Inspur Information and Ruijie Networks both hit limit-ups, while Huashi Technology achieved a 20% limit-up. Liquid-cooled server concepts were active, with Guanlong Energy Saving hitting a 20% limit-up.

On the downside, jewelry, precious metals, crop farming, fisheries, photovoltaic equipment, and passenger vehicles led the declines. The jewelry sector fell 4.67% to lead all declines, with Baiyin Nonferrous hitting the limit down. Precious metals dropped 2.67%, while crop farming and fisheries both fell over 2.4%. Given that gold-jewelry and agricultural stocks had posted substantial gains earlier, their sharp pullbacks on this day reflect a clear sector rotation pattern in the market.
