On May 17th, the results of the "Forbes China 3rd Top 50 AI Technology Companies" list were announced. This selection focuses on core sectors within China's artificial intelligence industry, aiming to identify and recognize benchmark enterprises and leading figures in the AI field. Among them, Beijing Shuishou Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Waterdrop Group, was successfully selected for the "Forbes China 3rd Top 50 AI Technology Companies – AI Rising Star Enterprise" list. This recognition is based on its deep AI implementation capabilities in the vertical sectors of insurance and healthcare, signifying high recognition from the capital market and the industry for its commercial value and technological barriers.
Forbes, founded in New York in 1917, is renowned for its lists, often regarded as a "barometer of the economy" and a "wind vane of wealth." The fairness and impartiality of the Forbes China lists have established them as benchmarks across various fields. Forbes China has long focused on the profound transformations that artificial intelligence brings to the business world and its power to reshape economic and social development models. This year's selection actively responds to the national "AI+" strategic deployment, having upgraded and refreshed its evaluation criteria. The aim is to comprehensively select outstanding enterprises and individuals who excel in technological depth, commercial transformation, global expansion, social value, and ecosystem building, thereby setting new coordinates for the high-quality development of China's AI industry.
Currently, the global artificial intelligence industry is undergoing a critical transition from a "technology race" to a "productivity revolution." According to predictions by International Data Corporation (IDC), the global AI market size is expected to exceed $500 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32.1% from 2024 to 2028. As a core engine for global AI development, China is building a globally competitive artificial intelligence innovation ecosystem, driven by policy guidance, technological breakthroughs, and industrial integration.
In the direction of vertical industry applications, as a demonstrative enterprise for the commercial implementation of AI Agents, Beijing Shuishou Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. was established by Waterdrop Group in 2021. With an annual R&D investment of nearly 3 billion yuan, the company leverages Waterdrop Group's AI talent and resource advantages to concentrate efforts on AI innovation and R&D. It has applied for over 100 patents related to artificial intelligence, including 72 patents related to large language models, building an independent capability system centered on "Shuishou AI" to empower scenarios such as insurance technology, healthcare, and general office innovation.
In the insurance technology scenario, Waterdrop launched the AI customer service "Bao Xiaohui," capable of providing 7×24-hour rapid responses. The average response time for voice services is only 1.5 seconds, achieving an immersive "speak-and-handle" service with a conversational rhythm close to human interaction, reaching an industry-leading level. The company also introduced the industry's first AI underwriting expert "KEYI.AI," achieving responses within seconds. This has reduced the average processing time for complex health insurance underwriting by 80%, with an accuracy rate of 99.8%. It can also recommend other suitable insurance products to rejected applicants, significantly saving users' time costs associated with insurance purchase confusion and underwriting waits. Furthermore, leveraging its advantages in AI technology and big data, Waterdrop can gain deep insights into users' unmet protection needs and health risks, thereby providing more multi-dimensional references for product design. In 2025, Waterdrop's "Waterdrop Insurance" platform cumulatively launched 242 insurance products for individuals with pre-existing conditions, 57 of which support applications without health declarations. This is gradually building an "innovative insurance product universe for individuals with pre-existing conditions," enabling users of different ages and health statuses to find suitable insurance on the Waterdrop Insurance platform.
In the digital recruitment scenario, the company's self-developed patented "Clinical Drug Trial Patient Intelligent Matching Technology" innovatively adopts a dual-track parallel scheme of "numerical matching + semantic embedding matching." This reduces matching work that originally took several days to the minute level, increasing overall recruitment efficiency by over 300% with a matching accuracy rate exceeding 92%.
In the office collaboration scenario, the company recently self-developed the Shuishou AI Assistant – ClawSquare. Based on a distributed architecture, it enables AI Agents with different functions to communicate autonomously and collaborate to complete tasks, supporting 7×24-hour uninterrupted operation. Currently, this capability is starting by empowering internal office collaboration and gradually extending to core business scenarios in insurance and healthcare.
Shen Peng, founder and CEO of Waterdrop Inc., stated that the company aims to evolve from a "technology company that uses AI" to an "AI-native technology company," becoming a new entity driven by an AI core and possessing intelligent collaboration capabilities. In the future, Waterdrop will also build upon domestic AI core competencies, using the Greater Bay Area as a bridgehead to radiate influence to Southeast Asia, exporting its mature "AI + Protection" model to build a global intelligent protection network.
