Insurance companies have once again failed to make the top 10 in the "2025 China Annual Best Employer" list, continuing a two-year trend of absence from the prestigious rankings.
The "China Annual Best Employer" awards, established in 2005, are recognized as a leading benchmark in China's human capital sector. This year's top 10 employers include China Merchants Bank, BMW China, Tencent, China Mobile, FAW Group, China Southern Power Grid, CATL, BYD, COFCO Group, and Postal Savings Bank of China.
Ping An Insurance (Group) Company Of China, Ltd. was the highest-ranked insurance firm, securing the 12th position. Notably, it was the only insurance company to appear in the top 30.
This marks the second consecutive year that insurers have missed the top 10. In 2023, PICC Group briefly broke into the list at 10th place. Between 2017 and 2019, PICC Property and Casualty, a subsidiary of PICC Group, consistently ranked between 6th and 7th.
The evaluation was chaired by Huang Yiping, Dean of the National School of Development at Peking University, Shi Baiting, President of the World Employment Confederation, and Huang Zhuo, Vice Dean of the National School of Development at Peking University. The rankings were determined based on four key dimensions: corporate culture, organizational structure, career growth, and incentive mechanisms.
Despite insurers' frequent emphasis on these four areas in internal training programs, the industry still lags in employee satisfaction and job security—core metrics for the best employer title.
The competition for best employer status highlights the importance of employee satisfaction and professional security as fundamental benchmarks for workplace excellence.
