Forbes has recently released its 2026 Global 2000 ranking of the world's leading public companies.

The collective sales for these top firms reached $56 trillion for the year, marking a 6% increase from last year's record high. Their combined profits totaled $5.5 trillion, a rise of 13.9% year-over-year. Total assets grew by 12.9% to $272 trillion. A significant highlight is the total market value of the listed companies, which surged by 31.8% from last year's record, creating over $30 trillion in new shareholder value.

Forbes notes that this year's list continues to be dominated by banks with substantial asset bases. However, the primary driver for changes in ranking positions has been the soaring market valuations of companies propelled by artificial intelligence. Despite the unprecedented focus on the AI sector, the banking industry still leads in both the number of companies and total assets represented on the Global 2000 list.

This year, 314 banks made the list, more than any other industry. Their combined assets total $140.4 trillion, accounting for over half of the total assets of all 2000 companies. Additionally, 136 diversified financial services firms and 113 insurance companies are included. The current high-interest-rate environment has also benefited the financial sector, enabling banks, insurers, and various lending institutions to achieve higher profits from loans and fixed-income assets.

In terms of specific rankings, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, and Agricultural Bank of China all placed within the top 10. Among the top 100, seven Chinese banks are featured, including the six major state-owned banks and one joint-stock commercial bank. The rankings are as follows: Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (6th), China Construction Bank (9th), Agricultural Bank of China (10th), Bank of China (12th), China Merchants Bank Co.,Ltd. (42nd), Bank of Communications (58th), and Postal Savings Bank of China (60th).

Two Chinese insurance companies also appear in the top 100: Ping An Insurance ranks 26th, and China Life Insurance ranks 47th. Furthermore, CITIC Group holds the 94th position.

The following is the list of the top 100 companies in the 2026 Forbes Global 2000.
