Byd Company Limited (SZSE: 002594), through its Ocean Network lineup, has officially launched the Sea Lion 08 technology flagship SUV with a starting guide price of 229,900 yuan and reaching up to 279,900 yuan.
Positioned as a strategic move to push the Ocean Network into the premium market segment, the Sea Lion 08 comes with a full suite of standard equipment including the God's Eye B - assisted driving laser version, the Cloud-N A closed twin-chamber air suspension system, and rear-wheel steering. The vehicle also integrates BYD's flash charging technology.
The Sea Lion 08 lineup offers a total of eight variants, spanning pure electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, five-seat and six-seat configurations, as well as four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive options, catering to diverse family structures and varied travel scenarios.
On the exterior, the SUV features BASF clear coat paint, available in six bespoke color finishes and two two-tone exterior combinations. Inside, a 17.3-inch ultra-narrow bezel central control screen pairs with a newly designed embedded instrument cluster for a dual-screen display experience. High-frequency interior contact surfaces receive 100% soft wrapping, complemented by maternal and infant-grade eco-friendly materials and a 2.83 square meter premium knitted fabric headliner. Buyers can choose between two interior palettes: Light Cloud White and Condensed Night Purple.
In terms of handling, the Sea Lion 08 rides on a front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension setup. As standard, it features the Cloud-N A closed twin-chamber air suspension and a rear-wheel steering system, achieving a compact turning radius of just 4.95 meters. Additionally, all variants come equipped with automatic parking assist and remote control parking functionality.
Every Sea Lion 08 model ships with a native flash charging platform. On the range front, the pure electric version delivers a CLTC range of up to 900 kilometers. For the plug-in hybrid variant, the CLTC pure electric range is 400 kilometers, with a combined full-tank and full-charge range of 1,650 kilometers. Under NEDC conditions, the depleted battery fuel consumption drops to as low as 4.6 liters per 100 kilometers. As of August 28, BYD has already established 10,000 flash charging stations nationwide.
Passive safety protections include a nine-longitudinal and thirteen-lateral cage-style ultra-strong body structure, paired with 11 standard airbags and the iTBC tire blowout stability control system. For battery security, the entire lineup is equipped with second-generation blade batteries, surpassing the rigorous standards set by the new national regulations. On the intelligent driving front, all versions come standard with the God's Eye B - assisted driving laser version, running the God's Eye 5.0 system, offering dual redundancy guarantees for both automated parking and urban navigation assistance.
The Sea Lion 08 provides both five-seat and six-seat layouts. The five-seat version boasts a completely flat rear floor, with dual zero-gravity front seats offering heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Both the driver and front passenger seats, along with the second-row right seat, are fitted with electric leg rests adjustable up to an 83-degree angle. For the five-seat EV configuration, the trunk offers 943 liters of cargo space plus a 201-liter powered front trunk. The six-seat variant delivers a 89.2% cabin space efficiency rate, with over 140 seat arrangement combinations, including laterally movable true zero-gravity seats and a central independent aisle. A 21.4-inch high-definition rear ceiling-mounted screen pairs with a 25-speaker Devialet sound system and Dolby Atmos support. When the third-row seats are folded flat, maximum trunk volume expands to 1,173 liters. Additionally, the vehicle offers up to 53 storage compartments throughout the cabin.
