Muse's Rapid Rise Could Reshape Meta's Valuation and Ignite Demand for Inference Computing

Stock News09-23

Analysts suggest that the early momentum behind Meta Platforms' AI agent, Muse, may amplify demand for inference-related computing power if the buzz proves sustainable. Muse is designed to perform multi-step tasks on behalf of users, positioning it as a transformative tool in the consumer AI space.

Muse Could Trigger Meta's Valuation Rerating

Evercore ISI analyst Mark Mahaney noted that the market has been overly preoccupied with enterprise AI, a focus he believes is excessive. While businesses typically pay for productivity gains, consumers have historically been less willing to do so, a dynamic that has shaped market perceptions. However, Muse shifts this narrative by directly targeting consumers with aggressive marketing, which has generated substantial traction. The app has climbed to the top of the free download charts on both Apple's App Store and Google Play, with nearly 750,000 installs on iOS in the U.S. within just five days of launch.

Mahaney cautioned that it is still early to draw firm conclusions, but he sees Muse as a pivotal catalyst in the product cycle that could unlock Meta's share price potential. He projects a potential rerating to 25 times forward earnings, implying a valuation of $810, or even 30 times, targeting $975, based on 2027 estimates. This mirrors the market's reaction to Google's successful Gemini 3 launch last year, which proved instrumental in lifting the stock.

Inference Computing Demand Could Skyrocket, Boosting Chipmakers

The implications extend beyond Meta itself to the hardware providers powering agentic AI systems. Seeking Alpha analyst Julia Ostian highlighted that Meta Muse's success signals a sustained shift toward agentic workloads, creating substantial demand catalysts for companies like Nvidia and AMD, as well as networking providers such as Broadcom and memory makers like Micron. She also acknowledged that it remains premature to fully assess the long-term practical applications of these agents.

Meanwhile, Tech Stock Pros sees a significant upside for ARM-based CPU manufacturers. The firm explained that Muse offers the market its first real glimpse of consumer-facing agentic AI. While many aspects still require validation, successful adoption could dramatically reshape the CPU landscape. Currently, the CPU-to-GPU ratio stands at roughly 1:4 to 1:8, but a breakthrough in agentic AI could shift this closer to 1:1 or 1:2, explaining the positive market response to CPU makers following Muse's record downloads.

Tech Stock Pros further noted that ARM-based CPUs are best positioned to benefit, given their superior energy efficiency compared to x86 architectures. Additionally, if consumers increasingly embrace agentic AI through Muse, this could foster a new, consumer-centric competitive environment, potentially featuring players like Apple and its new Siri.

Upcoming 2026 Meta Connect Could Unveil More AI Innovations

Muse's success also bodes well for Meta itself. Evercore reiterated its "Outperform" rating and $860 price target on Meta stock following Muse's launch. Mizuho similarly maintained its "Outperform" rating with a $750 target. Mizuho analyst Lloyd Walmsley remarked in a Tuesday report that Meta's bullish scenario is becoming increasingly evident, driven by strong adoption momentum, Muse's leading position on app store charts, and the opening of a connector platform. With more AI products and partnerships slated for the 2026 Meta Connect conference, he believes the stock still has room to climb.

The 2026 Meta Connect conference is scheduled for September 23-24 at Meta's Menlo Park campus in California. The event will spotlight VR hardware, smart wearables, the metaverse ecosystem, and AI, with Meta expected to unveil its latest technological breakthroughs and strategic roadmap.
