Speaking with the media after Xiaomi's global launch event at IFA 2026 in Berlin, Xiaomi Group partner, president, and head of the mobile phone division, Lu Weibing, addressed the ongoing surge in memory chip prices.
He stated that regardless of whether prices rise or fall, the company must keep moving forward. However, after careful forecasting, Xiaomi has reached a simple conclusion: it cannot simply pass costs onto consumers. Instead, the focus must be on making better products.
"If we need to raise prices, the key is ensuring customers feel they are getting great value for money," Lu said. "The K100 Pro series exceeded my expectations and those of many others because, even as costs increased, we kept adding value and improving the product rather than cutting corners."
He also teased that following the launch of the Xiaomi 18 Fold on September 7, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will arrive at the end of September, promising that this lineup will also deliver plenty of surprises.
